Construction Update

Construction of the multi-sports pitch is now underway following approval by the Minister for Planning.

Current Status of Site Work

  • Site security and clearing was completed in late 2023

  • Early works including site leveling (cut & fill) to provide a level work area for the new pitch was undertaken in early 2024

  • Preparation of services such as sewerage and mains water, and trenching for storm water management have been undertaken

  • Light pole footings have been completed

  • Storm water detention tank has been installed

  • Drainage pits have been prepared to accommodate debris and sediment traps

  • The size of sediment traps has been upgraded from those originally proposed

  • Retaining walls have been installed where the new pitch level is above the old ground level

  • The pitch base (crushed rock bedding) has been laid ready for asphalt paving.

Next Steps

  • Storm water drainage connections

  • Preparation and pouring of the curbing around the pitch

  • Security and safety fencing to be installed around the playing area, including pedestrian and ambulance gates

  • Preparation of the playing area ready for asphalt paving.
